Boot To DOS Ability In Windows Millenium

Back to where you came from. The same text in Greek.

Since Microsoft has done (almost) everything possible to hide the "boot to DOS" ability in Windows Millenium, you will need to follow the steps below if you want to boot your computer directly to MS-DOS.

In Windows Millenium, left-click on the Start button, then select Settings, and then select Control Panel and left-click again.

In the Control Panel window, find the link for Add/Remove Programs. Double-(left)-click on that link and you will get the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box.

In this box, select the Startup Disk tab, insert a blank floppy diskette into the A: drive and then left-click on the Create Disk button. This will create a Windows Millenium Edition Startup Disk, that can be used for booting directly to DOS.

Once the disk is created, left-click on the OK button to close the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box and then left-click on the X in the upper-right corner of the Control Panel window, to close the Control Panel.

With the floppy diskette still in the A: drive, left-click on the Start button and then left-click on the Shut Down option, to get the Shut Down Windows dialog box. Left-click on the small down arrow, to open the shut down options list, then left-click on the Restart option. Once Restart is chosen, left-click on the OK button, to restart the system.

Watch the system during reboot. Once you get to the Microsoft Windows Millenium Startup Menu, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to cursor down to option 4. Minimal Boot and then hit the Enter key.

Your system will proceed to an A: prompt.
