Protect Your Email Address

Back to where you came from. The same text in Greek.

We all hate spam. However, what you receive might not even be spam; the emails that you are receiving could very well be email that you have opted to receive. When you are using your email address online, you should always be careful.

When you are typing in your email address on a website, you should make sure that you read the website and their terms of service agreement if there happens to be one. Most sites will outline what you can expect to receive in your email inbox (if anything) after signing up. If a website doesn't have a privacy policy, you should not sign up with them.

Most companies will provide a way to unsubscribe your email address from their mailing lists. For instance, if you no longer want to receive a newsletter, all you would have to do is click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.

If you have never heard of the company that you are receiving emails from, it is a good idea to not use the unsubscribe link as many spammers will use it for malicious reasons and will sometimes sell your email address to other people once you have unsubscribed from their mailing list.

There are many ways in which you can get signed up for emails that you aren't aware of, such as offers through the partners of a website you have signed up for. This can be easily avoided by reading though the website that you are typing your email address into.

You should remember that mails sent out due to an agreement are not spam. Hopefully this article will help you to prevent your email address from ending up on unwanted mailing lists.
