Displaying Greek Characters In Microsoft Outlook Express
If the software you use for sending and receiving email messages (Email Client Software), does not display greek characters, you can try three different methods for applying the settings we are suggesting for Microsoft Outlook Express. If you use some other email client software, it is certain that after setting it up accordingly, it will also display greek characters.
You can start by launching Microsoft Outlook Express. The instructions have been prepared for version 6.00.2800.1123. If you have a different version installed, you may notice some differences. In this case, apply the settings that resemble to the ones described here. In order to find out which version is installed on your computer, left-click on the Help menu and then left-click on About Microsoft Outlook Express.
You don't need to have an active internet connection in order to apply any of the settings described below.
Your email client software must have built-in support either for the Greek (Windows), or for the Greek (ISO), or for the Greek encoding. If all three options are supported, Greek (Windows) should be your first choice. If you are unable to locate any of these options, your email client software may be unable to display greek characters properly.
First Method
The settings described here, are temporary. You must apply them for every message containing greek characters that are not displayed properly.
If you are viewing the message in the main Outlook Express window, left-click on the View menu, then select Encoding and then left-click on Greek (Windows).
If you can't apply the setting above, left-click on the View menu, then select Encoding, then select More and then left-click on Greek (Windows).
Second Method
The settings described here, are temporary. You must apply them for every message containing greek characters that are not displayed properly.
If you have left-(double)-clicked on the message, then you are viewing it in its own window. Left-click on the Format menu, then select Encoding and then left-click on Greek (Windows).
If you can't apply the setting above, left-click on the Format menu, then select Encoding, then select More and then left-click on Greek (Windows).
