Petrombeis Mavromihalis (1765-1848)
Petrombeis Mavromihalis {Πετρόμπεης Μαυρομιχάλης} (1765-1848). A leading figure in the Peloponnese {Peloponnisos ~ Πελοπόννησος} and prime mover in political and mililtary affairs, Petrombeis Mavromihalis took the office of Bey of Mani {Μάνη} in 1815. He became a member of the Society Of Friends [The Society] in 1818.
Mavromihalis distinguished himself in operations against Mahmud Dramali Paşa (1780-1822, Ottoman General born in Drama {Δράμα}) in the defence of Mesolongki {Μεσολόγγι}, and in repelling Ibrahim Paşa.
All through the civil strife [Civil Wars] he tried to create a reconciliatory climate between the antagonists.
He held high offices, such as President of 2nd National Assembly, President of the House and the Executive, and Senator, after the September 3rd [Place Names] rebellion.
Following the assassination of Ioannis Kapodistrias [People] he was charged with high treason and imprisoned. He was released in 1832.
