Ippokration Hospital

Back to where you came from. The same text in Greek.

The initial building of Ippokration {Ιπποκράτειον} Hospital, whose front view looked towards Queen Sofias {Vasilissis Sofias ~ Βασιλίσσης Σοφίας} avenue which was then called Kifisias {Κηφησίας} avenue, was built in the 1880's on money donated by Grigorios Maraslis {Γρηγόριος Μαρασλής}, a benefactor of the time. Until 1912, the building used to house the Maraslion Chemical Laboratory and the Commercial School.

After a few modicifications which started in 1912, the building housed a temporary hospital in order for the German Red Cross mission to be settled there.

In 1917, the 4th Military Hospital was settled and stayed there until 1922 [Contents], whereupon the Athenian Hospital of the Refugees took its place.
