The Thon Manor

Back to where you came from. The same text in Greek.

Nikolaos Thon {Νικόλαος Θων}, built this famed masterpiece in 2 acres of landed property located at the corner of Aleksandras {Αλεξάνδρας} and Kifisias {Κηφησίας} avenues. It's marvellous garden was filled with statues and busts.

He was of Bavarian origin and served as the Steward of Charity of King Georgios I {Γεώργιος Α'} [People]. He also participated in many social events and charity funds.

The manor, which was built according to an architectural design by Hernest Tschiller {Ερνέστος Τσίλλερ} [Pan-Athenian Stadium] and stood out for its exceptional stained glass windows, its marmoreal window frames, its commodius patio and its green turret with a lightning arrestor, was blown up to pieces in December 1944, during the so-called Greek Civil War which started almost immediately after the end of the Nazi German occupation [Contents] over Greece.
