According
to the statistics issued by the Greek
Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs 
for the school-year of 2000-2001, one out of four
students in every school in Attica, is an alien!
There are 100,000 students who don't have Greek Nationality and half of them go to schools located in the administrative distric of Athens [Place Names].
In a total of 65,546 students attending primary education, 2/3, that is almost 43,697 are Albanians, 16,459 come from the former U.S.S.R., 3,500 come from other member-countries of the European Union and 1,890 are Greek Nationals.
Among the students attending secondary education, the percentage of the alien students is lower; 4.5% of the secondary education student population.
47% of the alien students live in Attica, 24% in Central Macedonia [Place Names] and 9% in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
There are 72,937 students attending schools in the administrative district of the Municipality of Athens. 22% of them, that is 16,049, are aliens.
