Limousine

Back to where you came from. The same text in Greek.

Limousine has a curious history. In French it means literally 'hood' and was used as the name of a flowing hooded garment worn by the inhabitants of Limousin, a region of west-central France. Then it became the name of an automobile with an enclosed passenger compartment and a roof over the open seat for a chauffeur. It is not certain whether the name was chosen by the original chauffeurs or because the enclosure over the passenger compartment constituted a 'hood'.
