The State-run Popular Lottery Ticket {Laiko Lahio ~ Λαϊκό Λαχείο} was established in June 1941, as a continuation of the then "Lottery Ticket Of The Fleet" {Lahion Tou Stolou ~ Λαχείον Τού Στόλου}. The initial name of the ticket was "Popular Ticket For The Public Welfare" {Laikon Lahion Yper Tis Kinonikis Pronias ~ Λαϊκόν Λαχείον Υπέρ Τής Κοινωνικής Προνοίας}.
It is being issued on a weekly basis and the draws are being held on Tuesdays. Winning tickets are those whose number is included in the range of the numbers drawn.
